Ribbon Cutting for South Side Lofts, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania

South Side Lofts Ribbon Cutting.jpegOn October 28, 2014, the Affordable Housing Gurus had the opportunity to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony for South Side Lofts in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. South Side Lofts is an affordable housing artist community developed by Housing Development Corporation MidAtlantic (HDC) and funded through the low-income housing tax credit program. Two blighted buildings were demolished and a century-old church was adaptively reused to create two buildings containing a total of 46 1-, 2-, and 3-bedroom apartments. An art gallery and workspace are among the features in this apartment community. One of the residents, Jenna O’Connell, was on hand at the ribbon cutting and was displaying some of her artwork.
